For my socially focused website I didn't change anything, I just added more content.
I am going to follow the same layout that I originally planned. After thinking through what content I want to feature on the website, I decided that I would provide background on the Pacific Garbage Patch, a giant patch of plastic the size of Texas floating in the pacific. It's a huge issue, and it needs to be addressed.

Following that section will be a section on single-use, disposable plastic. These items are the largest contributors to plastic pollution as a whole and include plastic straws, bags, water bottles, cups/lids, and other items that we consider disposable and generally throw away after one use.

This section will include information about the main types of single use plastics, and reusable alternatives for each. For instance, you can bring cloth bags when shopping instead of using plastic bags, or you can use a reusable water bottle instead of buying plastic water bottles.
After this, I plan on maybe providing a video for further information, and then a section about companies that are doing something to remedy the issue that readers can follow links to contribute or find out more info.

I put together a mock-up in Adobe XD, the layout of the pages is as such:

Going forward, I will write up the actual website content and further refine the visual design. Then I will structure the pages and start to work on CSS. Finally, I will use javascript to make the page interactive, ie mouse-over for more information, automatic scrolling, parallax, etc.
