WEB - Project 1: Milestone 1

For project one, we are required to create some sort of socially or politically focused website.

For mine, I chose to go with the social and environmental issue of plastic use, and its abhorrent effects on the environment via passive and active pollution. There is over-consumption everywhere you look, and a huge biproduct of this is single use plastic going into landfills and the ocean.

I am a huge proponent of sustainability and recycling. I think that plastic use needs to end. Additionally, I think that fossils fuels need to be phased out as we join the rest of the world and transition to renewables such as solar power.

The intended audience of my website may be people who already believe in the ideals of sustainability and reduced plastic consumption, but want more information about the issue of plastic pollution and over consumption and what they can do to help combat it.

I will provide examples of the harm that plastic pollution causes, the main culprits of that pollution, how to reduce use, and who is already helping the cause.

Below is a basic idea of the format of the site, it will essentially be like a magazine or presentation.

The website will make use of javascript to increase interactivity and keep the user engaged. I want it to look clean and not cheesy.

In terms of content, I will provide the information listed above in addition to relevant statistics and facts. Also, I may use quotes and examples of the works of organizations who deal with cleaning up the ocean, etc.
